HTC has announced the 8X Windows Phone 8 smartphone. The 8X features a colorful design language which is a departure from the white polycarbonate design seen in the company’s Android flagship, the One X.
The 8X features a 4.3-inch S-LCD 2 display with a 720p resolution, a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, a 8-megapixel camera with a BSI sensor, a 88-degree lens for wide shots and a f/2.0 aperture. Additionally, for the front facing camera also HTC has added 2.1-megapixel sensor with a f/2.0 aperture for better low-light performance. This camera has been made keeping the Skype service in mind that is rumored to be a part of the Windows Phone 8 OS.
Other frills include, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC connectivity and HTC will sell LTE and HSPA+ variants dependent on the market. HTC is even integrating Beats Audio and the phone has an extra amplifier for the same. When a Beats headphone is inserted in the 8X, there even is a Beats notification that pops up on the Windows Phone 8 interface.
The device will be available in multiple colors, but the availability of the colors will be dependent on the region the device is being sold in. HTC says that the 8X will be officially launched in late October by Microsoft and it will be available in November. No pricing and official Indian availability has been announced yet.
